I have written about the characteristics of Arabic before, so now only a brief reminder of the most important characteristics. Arabic alphabet consist of 28 letters. The letter is read from right to left. Additionally, there is no division into upper and lowercase letters – the size is still the same.

Below in the table I have included the whole Arabic alphabet. Additionally, I have distinguished all letter forms – initial, middle, final and independent. Apart from the letters themselves, it is good to learn them together with pronunciation. In case of problems I will be happy to help!

OTHER CHARACTERS

In addition to alphabetical and vocal letters, there are other characters used in writing or speech. Some of them are تَنْوِيْن. This is simply adding the endings “an”, “un” and “in” depending on the character. تَنْوِيْن also occurs in cases.

The remaining letters, such as the maksura elif, tamarbuta and madda are variants of existing letters. The ellipsis of the maksura resembles the letter ي, with the difference that it does not dot and pronounce changes. Ta marbuta is a “wrapped” letter ت. It appears only at the end of the sentence. Madda is just a very long “a”.
